The Two Brothers Adapted (Egypt)




v  Plot
*       There were two brothers, Anpu, the married one and Bata, the younger one. Anpu treated his brother like a son and loved it so much and became the reason why his wife become envy to Bata.
One day, when Anpu and Bata were on the field, Bata went home to get some corn and found the wife combing her hair and instructed her to get some corn. At the end of that day, Anpu went home early and found his wife bitterly crying and accused Bata for beating her up. Anpu got angry and when Bata arrived, he sprang to it with a knife and tried to kill him. Bata prayed to God Ra and it heard his cry and made a river with crocodiles between the two. Bata explained that he didn’t do such accusations and went away. When Anpu got home, he found his  wife near the river washing the paint of balck and blue to her skin. Anpu got mad and killed his wife and mourned for his younger brother while his brother reached the Valley of the Acacia and start there his new life and the nine gods gave him a wife and Bata loved her very much.
·         Conflict
ü  The conflict in the story started when the wife wanted to destroy Bata to his brother Anpu.
·         Climax
ü  The climax in the story is when Anpu almost killed Bata not knowing that it is just a plan of his evil wife and when he found his wife near the river washing the paint of balck and blue to her skin.
·         Denouement
ü  The resolution in the story is when Anpu realized the mistake he had done to his brother while his brother found peace living in the valley of the Acacia.
v  Characters
·         Protagonist
ü  Anpu- the elder brother
ü  Bata- the younger brother
ü  God Ra- the gracious god who helped Bata.
·         Antagonist
ü  Wife- the jealous wife of Anpu who wanted to destroy Bata to his husband.
v  Setting
·         Location- on the house, field, near the river and Valley of the Acacia.
v  Theme
*       The theme of the story is life process where it tells the experience of the two brothers.
v  Point of View
*       The point of view in the story is third person because the story talks about the experiences of Bata.
v  Conflict
*       The conflict in the story is man vs. man in the place of the two bothers vs. the wife.
v  Symbol
*       The symbol for this story is the knife which is used by Anpu when he attempted to kill his brother because for me a knife symbolizes the things that are very useful to you yet can also kill you.
v  Moral Lesson
*       Blood is thicker than water.
